Year 7,8,9 KS3 Maths

Mathematics is an interconnected subject in which pupils need to be able to move fluently between a variety of mathematical ideas.

Our KS3 Maths classes have been developed to help build confidence in mathematics and prepare students for the new GCSE.

The ultimate aim of this class is for students to:

  1. Become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, including through varied and frequent practice with increasingly complex problems over time
  2. Develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately
  3. Reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language
  4. Solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine and non-routine problems with increasing sophistication, including breaking down problems into a series of simpler steps and persevering in seeking solutions

These teacher-led classes provide plenty of extra practice on the core curriculum topics, enhancing both problem-solving and mathematical reasoning skills and lends children a fresh impetus to their Maths studies at Secondary level.

This course currently offered at RTC Rochester,  RTC Tunbridge Wells  and RTC Sevenoaks
