Do you need help in drafting that all-important Personal Statement?
Our tutor, Sylvia Howe, is a vastly experienced specialist in helping university candidates to create that perfect personal statement.
A personal statement is the key to moving from school, to the university of your choice.
It needs to convince that they should choose you, too.
It should show them that they would be getting someone who fits their requirements on many levels – academic, social and creative.
A good Personal Statement takes time, research, imagination and effort; you will be competing with other applicants just as keen as you are. Sylvia has an abundance of skill and experience that has helped many applicants land the place they want. She works with students by guiding and supporting them, allowing students to present themselves in the best possible light.
She will spend as long as necessary, encouraging the candidate to find and use their own voice; not spoon feeding, but asking them the questions that give rise to strong answers. She will then help them put their statement together and check it for sense, originality and accuracy. If interview practice is needed, she can help there too, using the Personal Statement as a springboard to back up answers that will make them stand out from the crowd.
Sylvia, also, provides expert support towards shaping and perfecting university assignments and dissertations.
At university, some students (unaccustomed to the independent research and organisational skills required), find assignments confusing and intimidating. Sylvia can help by helping to organise notes, questioning ideas, as well as helping with the structure, grammar and overall layout.
“Sylvia helped my daughter prepare her university Personal Statement. She was extremely helpful and provided many clear suggestions and improvements to my daughter’s original draft and I would definitely recommend her. Many thanks Sylvia.”
From a student struggling with her dissertation:
“Sylvia, thank you so much. This is an ENORMOUS help!! I am going to go through this carefully and I will let you know if I have any further questions. Thank you, again, I feel a lot more relaxed now.”
“I just thought that I would let you know that I received a top mark in my dissertation, getting 78, and I have been published! Overall I got 69 which is a 2:1 just one mark off a first, which is frustrating; however, I have been given an award for such good progression with my marks! Thank you so much for all your help, I am thrilled.”
